DHL Warns USA Government to Talk to Their Citizens to Stop Leaving Their Parcels with DHL

NEW YORK — In an unprecedented and highly critical public address, DHL Express CEO Tobias Meyer has issued a stern ultimatum to the United States government, demanding immediate intervention regarding a massive backlog of abandoned consumer packages.

The global logistics giant explicitly called out the U.S. government to warn its citizens from leaving their parcels stranded at shipping hubs due to unpaid customs debts, structural backlogs, and what the company describes as “deeply unfair” operational friction within the American import system.

“U.S. Customs is the Major Cause of DHL Issues”

According to DHL leadership, clearing packages at U.S. Customs has become an increasingly difficult bottleneck. Recent regulatory changes—including the effective elimination of the de minimis duty-free threshold for low-value imports—have caused an overwhelming spike in formal customs entries. Packages that once cleared smoothly are now subject to extensive paperwork, hidden duties, and intensive inspections.

The CEO stated that the United States has not been fair to DHL Express, shifting the immense administrative burden and the costs of storing unclaimed freight onto the courier service. Many American consumers, caught off guard by unexpected import taxes and complex clearance requirements, are simply refusing or abandoning their shipments entirely.

The 5-Day Ultimatum

Frustrated by the mounting gridlock and gridlocked warehouses, DHL has issued a final 5-day ultimatum starting today. Every individual with a package currently stuck in the system must come forward, clear their regulatory requirements, and claim their delivery.

Official Warning: If these parcels are not claimed within the next 5 days, DHL will be forced to take definitive action. All remaining unclaimed packages will be permanently confiscated and disposed of or liquidated to cover accumulated storage and handling debts.
